So it begins. Today marked the first day of training. I couldn't think of a better way to start training than a nice easy 6 mile run with the Bagel Bunch group. Below is a picture of me for the start of training. I'm assuming that smile won't stay around come February and March!
I know the marathon is still quite a ways off but it never hurts to get the training going. For now it's just adding to my base. The first two weeks are fairly easy, just 25 miles a piece. I'll be running every other day for right now to avoid injury.
Today's run was pleasant. It was finally pretty nice out for the first day of December. It is looking like this week will be in the mid to lower 30s which beats the teens of last week! There wasn't anything too exciting on today's run to report. The first three miles were fairly quick and were mostly into the wind. The pace kind of hurt me for the last mile but I survived.
There is always a little extra motivation in the last few miles when you know you're going to go in and get warm and drink coffee! Around the table we told stories of Black Friday shopping and the general thought is people are insane!
For the rest of the day, it's just time to relax and finish off my Saranac Christmas Ale!
